With the introduction of the T5 & T5HO (High Output) lamps in North America, suspended and wall mounted fluorescent lighting is changed forever! These luminaires exceed the performance of conventional T8 lamped luminaires.

The smaller diameter of T5 & T5 HO lamps (40% smaller in diameter than T8 Lamps) enables the design of correspondingly smaller packages. Economy of scale, however, is not the complete story. The small diameter of the lamps (5/8") together with the use of high performance reflectors, results in more precise control of the direction and the output of the light source.

Since T5 HO lamps produce 5000 lumens of light (nearly double that of T8 lamps), the installation and maintenance cost of a lighting system can be dramatically reduced by requiring only half the number of lamps. Because of added performance gains by using single lamp cross-section fixtures, fewer luminaires may be required.

The newest luminaire family is the G-Beam series, comprised of sharp corner, rectilinear shapes that are designed to integrate with architectural spaces. Many of these luminaires take advantage of the size and performance to T5/T5HO lamps and ballasts. The G-Beam line also introduces T5 lamps in recessed luminaires for recessed linear lighting.
